The quietest place in Manhattan is, unsurprisingly, Central Park.
It makes sense, the only place where there aren’t cars, but it’s not just that. I learned today that the park is actually sunken, and slightly walled, so all of the sound from the city hits the walls and deflects up, while the visitors in the park are lower, and can enjoy some much needed peace.
