Ky, Occi, and I are in Melbourne for the weekend. We’re having a wonderful time, but only thanks to a lot of people doing their jobs well.
Ky, as always, is doing an incredible job planning and executing the next few days. It’s incredible how well she pulls things together, and I’m constantly amazed at how she does it. What often goes unnoticed is the level of self-sacrifice attached, and how she will go home early to care for bubs if she’s getting tired.
Mum, aka Nabs, did a great job this evening while Occi was unsettled. It was a tough gif; Occi usually hits the hay at 8pm NZ time, the exact time our Aus friends arrived to say hi this evening. Having someone do the hard work – hugging and soothing – allowed me to spend time with friends which is apportioned out once or twice a year.
Finally, James, the owner of the establishment we visited, did a stand-up job. Operating a hospitality venue in Melbourne is tough, but James was able to deliver a wonderful evening for all; from drinks, to nibbles, to a late dinner for all.
I write this feeling very blessed.
