This evening, we attended our first American wedding. It was a lovely affair, and I always love to see how different cultures celebrate tying the knot.
First off, we felt lucky to be invited. Ky met the bride a few years ago; both of us had just moved to Denver, and Tarika and Ky had both completed a tech fellowship in Australia, albeit at different times. From that small speak, a wonderful friendship blossomed.
One thing I love is when couples put thoughtful elements into their day. This evening was a great example; the bride was born in America, but as South Asian ancestry and spent 8 years as a child living in Mexico. She recognised all those different elements through her dress (Western dress with an Indian twist to her veil), and conducting part of the ceremony in Spanish.
We had to make an early exit (Girly was getting a bit agitated), but I love a good wedding, and this one was a lot of fun.
Sleeping in your own bed is a big plus though, not going to lie!
