Today was a GREAT day at work. Which is a very good thing, because the last two weeks I have been feeling a little flat about it. Not sad, not willing to quit. Just not that excited, a bit hom hum. It was leading to a poor effort, which meant my work got a little sloppy, which I wasn’t happy about, which lead us back to a lack of motivation. Not a great place to be.
One of the issues I identified is that I wasn’t getting the most socially out of my work. Being fully remote has its perks, but it has been hard for me to build some of the friendships that got me through the trenches in previous jobs. So today, I made sure to spend some quality time with Felipe, my associate, as we built out our latest tool.
It was a blast. While we designed, coded, and deployed our work together, we cracked jokes, talked about ideas we had, and just genuinely had fun. He lives in Brazil, which means it is difficult for us to meet up, but I hope we will sometime either this year, or the next.
