Our dear friend Sydney had a surprise birthday party this evening. Her grandmother, who is now a great-grandmother, had made the trip from Austin to be there.
I used to think older people were gross, but these days, you realize they’re living treasures. What they have seen in their lifetime, and the changes that have occurred, are well worth hearing.
For Syd’s grandmother, her biggest comment was how much fun she’s had. Despite losing her husband recently, and a number of friends, she really felt as those she had lived a fortunate life.
