I like cooking creatively, and I like using ChatGPT to guide me while I’m in the kitchen.
It works, until it doesn’t. LLMs have a tendency to “glaze” you, and they’re sometimes not as smart as you think they are.
Today I was hoping to make a lentil, pumpkin, and sweet potato soup after a request from Ky. Turns out that unless you’re working the Red Cross tent in an impoverished war zone, a pound of lentils is way too much. The result was rather ghastly; imagine Oliver Twist but set in Madras.
I’m swearing off ChatGPT cooking for the rest of the month, and sticking with the recipes. With an NYT Cooking subscription and a library card, there is no excuse.
