After a week in SF, I’m back in Auckland. Even better, I’m in my favourite part, Waiheke.
With so much going on with travel, visas, work, weddings etc, Ky and I booked in a night just for the two of us on the island. We’re in a tiny but rather charming bach (pronounced batch, the NZ term for beachhouse) with an AC unit and hot tub. What more could you ask for.
In the 14 months we have been parents, we haven’t had a single night with just the two of us. We’re not complaining, but with O staying with her grandparents, it’s a great chance for the two of us to go for dinner, sleep in, and walk along the beach.
It’s been glorious.
I love being a dad, but I also love being a husband to Ky, and this short overnighter is a chance to prioritize and enjoy this important aspect of my life.
