There are some things you can learn at any age, and there are some things that learning early can pay huge dividends.
Skills like tennis, gymnastics, and violin requires you to be playing before five if you want to be really, really good at them. On the flip side, there are certain surgical procedures or statistical tools you can learn in your forties, and still become world class at.
Skiing is probably somewhere in the middle. If you want to go to the Olympics, sure, you probably need to start around 5. But if you want to be a handy, shred the whole mountain guy or gal, you can start much later. I did.
Regardless, Ky and I quite enjoy our snow sports, and think it would be grand if O can join us sooner rather than later. So today, after we picked up her winter snow boots, we decided to hit the trails, aka the last bits of snow on the football outside.
It was SUCH a fun time. O clearly had no idea what was going on, but she was a huge fan of the danger. Within 5 minutes she turned from eager to hater, so we called it short, but overall, a decent start!
