I just got home from a great dinner with one of my friends. Ok, the dinner itself wasn’t super memorable, but the company was.
I met Eric through UATX, aka the Incel Academy, which from the outside seems to be speedrunning its way to oblivion in spite of a $100m cash donation. He’s a professor at CU Boulder which is up the road, and we have been good friends since.
Eric is one of those guys who has a lot of friends and a real sense of adventure. Over the course of the evening he told me about the three times he has been apprehended by foreign militaries, his love of fly fishing and wine, and his recent paper exploring the intersection of space travel and blockchain markets.
Sadly he’s moving on to the University of Wyoming, so he’ll be a bit further away, but hopefully we will catch up again soon before he heads north. At the very least, we have a vague plan to go fly fishing in Montana in August; we shall see!
