Don’t bother.
We live in the AI revolution, which is a technology up there with the Gutenberg Press and the internet in terms of it’s ability to revolutionise the way we live our lives. Understandably, there has been a torrent of companies that have entered the arena to achieve the outsized returns for being the winner in this new game. OpenAI is the current leader, and it’s product ChatGPT, is eponymous with Generative AI. It’s the first to market, and has the best product. Unsurprisingly, there are plenty of competitors on their tail.
Microsoft has Co-Pilot, and I think that this is possibly the closest to OpenAI. Big stacks of cash, and the ability to integrate AI into computers at the hardware level (the AI button is the first button to be added to the keyboard in something like 20 years) makes it a prime contender. The other company that one would imagine would be in the game is Google.
I mean, why wouldn’t they. Billions of people have a Google Account. Millions of business rely on it. Trillions of searches are made through the company every month. People love their services, and it’s hard to think of a company that has had a bigger impact. So when they decided, inevitably, to jump into the AI game, I was looking forward to it.
Well, despite being given two month free trial of their premium model, it only took me two days to realise it was a waste of time. When compared to OpenAIs ChatGPT 4, it was a poor substitute. Being unable to load documents is a major issue, and the responses are way too wordy. But that isn’t the major issue that has plagued Google. It’s the images.

The biggest issue is the image parameters, and how they are distorted to achieve the goals that some at Google have. Some will shout “Woke”, a term I personally dislike due to over use and under definition, but this doesn’t look good.
People go to Google because they want to find out information about something they don’t know. If that information that is returned is false, and laughably so, then why come back to this source.
I’m sticking with my $20 a month ChatGPT subscription for now.
