We had a big hit out at football today. 6×15 minute quarters was pretty brutal, especially with new boots that hadn’t been worn in yet. I spent the rest of the day feeling pretty stiff and sore.
It was still a fun day out, and after the game, we even had some meat pies to scoff into. Noice!
As I have mentioned in previous posts, playing Australian Rules overseas presents a unique challenge due to the delta between the best player and the worst being way, way higher than anything you’d encounter outside of a mandatory primary school PE class. Usually, this results in a lower standard overall in most aspects of the game.
But not ALL aspects.
One of our players, Paddy Turner, attended Colorado State University as a punter, and has a lethal right foot. I shit you not, he was sending 60 yard spirals from the kick out, landing well into the midfield. I have never played with someone who can boot it that far.
I am glad he plays for us.
