This weekend was purpose built to be as calm as possible. No trips. No events. Just a time to hang out together, get some tasks done, and enjoy some much needed naps. That goes for all three of us.
With a bit of breathing space, I made two stocks; a chicken and a beef. They have perfumed the house beautifully.
Store bought stock is totally fine; I know people complain about them all the time, but honestly, they’re fine. But having your own supply, made to your preferences, and with a gelatinous nature impossible to get in the store, they’re a joy to work with.
Stock making need not be daunting, and net net they’re the same price, or marginally more expensive, than picking a carton up from the store. I would start with chicken; easier, more versatile, faster.
