Wide or deep

Does a company that pays 10 people $100k a year do more good than one that pays 100 people $10k?

Unsurprisingly, the literature on this can only give us the most typical of answers: it depends.

And it does! But I think society tilts towards the former; probably because that while a handful of people enjoy the “portfolio career” (the people who are on the boards, do some angel investing, advise a few founders etc), the majority of people don’t want to juggle jobs when they can just have the one.

At the same time, I used to work for Uber many years ago, and a ton of drivers really enjoyed having a low entry, completely flexible opportunity that they could to supplement or complement their incomes.

Something to ponder more on.
