Nationals, Day 2

This morning was rough. We had the early game, so a 5am Denver start it was. Shoulder, sore. Knee, janky. Ribs as tender as it gets. Wonderful.

At least the weather was much better, and I saw for the first time why people might like to live down here (at least for the last 20% of their lives).

We were up against the Wasatch (?) WarGulls (????) in the semi finals, and boy, were they good. Denver has a great advantage in that we can field two full teams, but the downside for the reserves is that we’re always playing up against other club’s top team. This means everyone we play against has 2-3 stars, whereas we rely more on a “championship team” approach.

I played ok. With barely any bench, I was on the whole time, and got a few kicks. But my body just wasn’t up to it, and that’s never a good thing against a physical team.

So, it’s season over. I was thinking I was going to hang up the boots after this tournament, but now I’m not too sure. Leaving on a semi-final loss just doesn’t feel right, but for now it’s time to recover, reset, and see how I feel in six months time.
