Blog Post #89: Easter Sunday

Happy Easter, wherever you are in the world! Christ is Risen!

America, for all it’s reputation of religiosity, takes Easter surprisingly lightly. Good Friday and Easter Monday are non-events, and Easter Sunday is largely unremarkable for those not interested in church services or egg hunts.

Regardless, despite being a non-believer, I think Easter is a great holiday. This year we celebrated with a brunch today, and a dinner last night. A touch of traditional and of the new.

Last night was the traditional roast: lamb. We had some friends around; a professor of constiutional law, a former Peace Corps Officer, and the head of strategy for a leading crime prevention company. It was a grand affair, and very enjoyable. Lamb is an uncommon meat in the US, but when cooked well, is hard to beat.

This morning we went to brunch with some of our friends. Easter brunch isn’t really something we have done in the past, and certainly not like this. Our meal was Texas themed, and featured the quintessential Fried Chicken and Waffles. It was certainly something different, but a great way to spend the day. When brunch lasts for almost five hours, you know it’s a success!
