I have a long run planned on Sunday, so I wanted to give my legs a break this afternoon while still getting in some cardio. Lucky for me, our apartment complex has a gym. And that gym has a peleton.
Peleton’s have achieved meme status in the fitness industry. They’re ABSURDLY expensive; a new Peleton bike costs almost $2.5k USD ($3.75k AUD) and that doesn’t even include the virtual classes (yep, that’s a $20+ a month subscription. You can buy a very, very good road bike for less than a peloton, and you can actually go further than your living room.
Regardless, it’s free for me if you naively ignore the rent we pay each month, so I gave it a go.
Honestly, it’s good. There are some improvements I would make to personalize the experience: I struggle to increase my cadence when out of the saddle, and think the resistance is usually too low and have to jack it it up. Bit if you’re short on time and want to get in a fun and repeatable workout, it’s good.
Just don’t expect me to buy one anytime soon
