They’re playing down the road as I write this, at Mile High Stadium.
Now, having the Rolling Stones in town possibly doesn’t cause as much as a stir in 2024 as it did in 1974, but when I ran past the venue a few hours ago, it was clear that they could still pack an arena.
It’s crazy to think that they’re still rocking out, after all these years. Mick Jagger is 80 years old, and still going strong. Keith Richards, who looks like he has been dipped in formaldehyde and should probably have dropped dead 20 50 years ago, is the same age, and is still strumming along.
It was 62 years when the Stones first formed. In that time we have seen the fall of the Soviet Union, the invention of the internet, humans walking on the moon, Generative AI, and the eradication of Polio and Smallpox, Britain joining the EU/Common Market, and then leaving it, and the host of The Apprentice becoming the President of the United States. It’s been a wild ride for humanity, and the Rolling Stones have had a front row seat to it all.
