Over the past 24 hours, I have building my website to share my blog. What struck me most was how much easier it has been to create than previous attempts; a few years ago I tried to create something similar, and it was a complex and ultimately unsuccessful task.
A lot of this is due to the availability of (FREE!) tools made by people I will never meet. For this blog, I have used a combination of the following tools:
- ChatGPT+: A favourite, and for good reason. Being able to ask questions and receive bespoke answers made this process 10x easier to do. For everything I do online, it is rare that I am not at least in some way using generative AI. It really is incredible.
- WordPress: The world’s most popular website builder, and for a reason. Free, open source, simple, and infinitely customisable thanks to tens of thousands of plugins available. Honestly, it took me a little while to figure it out over the years, but hey, we made it eventually.
- MailPoet: A plug in that runs my subscriptions and emailing service seamlessly. Incredibly, it is free for the first 5000 emails I send a month, so assuming my subscriber list remains under 167 (My guess? Highly likely), this super useful service doesn’t cost me a cent.
If you’re thinking about starting your own blog or site, I would highly recommend it! Thanks to everyone who has contributed to building these tools that are making the world a better, more connected place.
