One thing that you’re guaranteed to see in the south of France are super yachts. After seeing a few, I realise that they aren’t all created equally.
While walking past the Marina, the majority of boats are similar to anything you’d see in Melbourne, Auckland, or Vancouver. Some are nice, some are REALLY nice, but you probably wouldn’t want to stay on them for more than a few days. They are for recreation, fishing, and possibly racing if you’re in a yacht.

From there, you get into what I call the super yachts; 30-50 meter boats which have the multi-levels, the crew, and all the navigation equipment. They look like this.

Finally, there are the hyper yachts. These are the crazy ones owned by Russian oligarchs and Middle Eastern Sheikhs. They’re closer to floating hotels than boats, and have everything from helicopters, speed boats (#meta) and even submarines onboard. They look more like this.

It’s crazy to see the all next to each other, and while there are MASSIVE differences in cost, I imagine the additional utility isn’t that much.
