That was yesterday. From the moment I woke up, it was a selection of highlights.
It began at the US Fortress Embassy in Nine Elms, where I finally secured my new US Visa. For those who haven’t danced this dance, it is burdensome, expensive, and beaurocratic. Fortunately, the interview phase is very quick, and the embassy is near my fave building in London, the SIS Building, which houses MI6.

From there, I went to Richmond to have lunch with a good friend, Vishnu (who is hopefully subscribed now, if so, welcome!). We were mates from Oxford, and although it has been quite some time since we last spoke, it felt as though we were back in OX1 and he had just walked out of the room. We both had the grand fortune of having a free afternoon, and we were able to squirrel away 3.5 hours talking about everything and nothing over a paella. It was time very well spent.
The evening was filled with a rapid coffee catchup with another friend Naufal, who is moving house today and tomorrow, then off to dinner with Dan, the subject of last night’s post.
If that wasn’t enough, it was then off to the pub to watch England beat the Netherlands to book their place in the final.
All in all, a wonderful day.
