You can’t beat sleep

I have tried. After white-knuckling through two weeks of uncomfortable sweltering in Europe, and then clawing my way through jet-lag, it all caught up with me today. At 3pm, it hit me like a wave, and drove me, practically slurring, into bed. I wouldn’t budge for two hours.

It’s 9PM now, and I am already starting to yawn. I know I had planned on doing a full run-down on Joe Biden leaving, but I might leave it to tomorrow.

The key points for those of you who can’t wait can probably be summed up in three points, which all centre around Occam’s Razor:

  • Joe Biden is alive: This is the one that if I get wrong, will leave me with the biggest egg on my face. Yes, it is strange that he just hard-ended his reelection bid over Twitter (Currently known as X), and it would have been better if he dropped in live, but the idea that he succumbed to Covid or a knife in the back by Kamala Harris is nuts.
  • Kamala will be the nominee: I am glad I waited a day to see how the water settled. As of yesterday, there were suggestions it could be Whitmer, Buttigieg, or, and this made me chuckle, the return of Hillary Clinton for Rd 2.
  • Have the vibes changed?: Perhaps. Last week it felt that Trump was an inevitability. Now, not so much. I still think Trump is favourite, but that lead will be pulled back with the removal of the strongest criticism of Biden (that he’s too old), and money has already begun to pour in.
  • Thoughts on Biden: This will be a longer post at point that I am keen to do. How people remember Joe Biden, and his legacy, will be up for debate for at least 30 years. Perhaps it will improve over time, like Carter. Maybe it will drop, like Reagans (??). Maybe it will be forgotten like Ford or George Sr. Or maybe we will look back on the Biden days nostalgically, like Clintons.

Lot’s more to look forward to!
