Occi is unwell. Not badly, but she has a bad case of the sniffles, and while it hasn’t dampened her spirits, it has made life a little bit tougher. We’ve been lucky so far in avoiding illness, but it was only a matter of time. The little girl darts around the floor, army crawl style,…

  • Upgrading Work

Today was a GREAT day at work. Which is a very good thing, because the last two weeks I have been feeling a little flat about it. Not sad, not willing to quit. Just not that excited, a bit hom hum. It was leading to a poor effort, which meant my work got a little…

  • Getting Started

My parents are/were keen bushwalkers. One of Dad’s favorite sayings was “90% of people who get lost bushwalking do so from the carpark”. I don’t know how true that is, but it seems directionally correct, and applies to more than just hiking. After spending three hours trying to get a new project setup in my…

  • Applying Lessons

I am a third of the way through Nate Silver’s latest book, and it has had me thinking about risk-taking. The biggest thing I have taken from it so far is that people are not taking enough risk, or more accurately, they’re not taking appropriate risks. What is a good risk? Well, at its most…

  • 13 years

I received an email today from LinkedIn, saying I had just clocked up thirteen years on the platform. It certainly hasn’t been memorable. LinkedIn gets a lot of hate, and understandably so. Some of the most inane, masturbatory, and try-hard behaviour bubbles up on the site far too often, see Exhibit A below. But some…

  • Date night

Ky and I try to make a priority of date night, so it was magnificent to leave a sleeping Occi with the grandparents, and head off to our local cocktail bar. They do a great job, but the real fun is spending some time together to chat and focus on being husband and wife, not…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
