  • En route

    Due to a screw up with flights, we ended up with a fast expiring credit with United. Not wanting to waste it, we decided to go visit Vancouver for the weekend. Ky has already headed off with Swock, and I’m writing this from the tarmac, about to take off. I’m looking forward to it, and…

  • Boys night

    Ky and Occi are off to Vancouver today, enjoying sometime with a few good friends of ours. Due to work, I’m flying out tomorrow afternoon. It should be fun. With an empty house, I invited three other dads around for some steak and potatoes. We talked about everything and nothing; from supersonic flight, to how…

  • Assassinated

    I was reading X while waiting for some data to upload this afternoon, and found out that a mere 3 minutes prior, and ~500 miles away, Charlie Kirk had been assassinated at a rally. It’s a terrible thing to happen. I don’t share Mr Kirk’s politics, or at least not most of them. But there…

  • No Spend September

    Ky and I are trying to have a No Spend September, which is really just a hard curtail on as much discretionary spending as possible. This is things like Amazon, coffees or meals out, events. It’s certainly not dumpster diving. It hasn’t been too hard so far, but conversely, we haven’t seen the benefits of…

  • 1 -> 1.1

    We often hear about the concept of going from 0 to 1, which comes from Peter Thiel’s excellent book of the same name. It’s all about creating something new. However much I enjoy that kind of work, what feel more common, and probably more useful, is going from 1 to 1.1, or having a marginal…

  • New Book

    I recently went past the the library, and picked up two books. One was on Deep Learning (the machine version), the other was on cooking. I’ll focus on the second. I never really watched any of Anthony Bourdain’s many shows, but I did read his best seller, Kitchen Confidential. Now, I have his second best…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
