I came across this David Foster Wallace quote today: Because the technology is just gonna get better and better and better and better. And it’s gonna get easier and easier, and more and more convenient, and more and more pleasurable, to be alone with images on a screen, given to us by people who do…

  • Windy mistake

The weather was wild today. No rain, no hail, but plenty of wind. Sadly, we had forgotten to take down our outside shade umbrella, and we learned the hard way why it was 50% off. Snap.

  • Balanced

Some weekends are flat out, and I arrive at Sunday night exhausted. Others (although this is very rare), are quiet, and I get to Sunday slightly bored. This weekend was perfectly balanced. Dinner with friends on Friday and Saturday, birthday party today, a chance to go to the gym and go for a run, and…

  • Almost done

Almost four years ago, I bought a shaving soap tub. It looked like this: Well, after using it 4-5 times per week, or around 800 times, it is is finally finished. Not bad for $10. Wet shaving, with a brush, safety razor, and a traditional soap is easily the biggest cost saving hack I can…

  • Roomba

We have a robot vacuum, and sadly, we hate it. It’s meant to be both good at mopping and dusting, but it just seems to break down all the time. I have requested a refund or replacement; watch this space.

  • Little O turns 1

If you’re not a grandparent, you probably find this stuff rather dull, but I wanted to capture a few thoughts on how the year has gone so far. First off, it DOES go fast. When I see photos of her from the early days, it’s hard to believe they are of the same person! Back…

Why I started this blog

I don’t really use Social Media anymore; I’m too young for Facebook, too old for SnapChat, too normie for Discord and too boring for Instagram. While this buys me back time and peace of mind, it means that it can sometimes be difficult to share my life with my friends and family outside of phone calls and in-person meetups. As I live overseas, this can be a difficulty.

With this in mind, and inspired my friend Dan Cullum (check out his fantastic site HERE), I have started a daily blog. Not only will I be able to share my ideas, news, and stories to friends and family, but it serves as a time capsule as I move through life. In the future, I look forward to seeing how my views, opinions, and ideas change over time. At the very least, it is an exercise in discipline, and may be of interest to my descendants at some time in the future.

While I imagine most followers of this blog will be friends and family, all are welcome to subscribe. Feel free to email at harry@harrywetherall.com, I reply to every message, and would love to hear from you.
