A sequence of events

Today will be a series of vignettes throughout the day, as my friend Joseph and I go to see Crystal Palace take on Nottingham Forest at Selhurst Park.

11:51: boarded the ThamesLink train at Kings Cross (Aka St Pancreas in our household) en route to East Croydon. The weather is beautiful, there are a few fans about, and the mood across the city is lifted.

12:15: Arrive at East Croydon. People say it’s a bit of a dive, but it’s fine. Off to the Builder’s Arms for a roast and prematch pint. Duolingo is done for the day

2:37: Crystal palace score. 1-0

3:05: Second half begins. Mood is bright

3:15: Nottingham Forest equalise. 1-1. Crowd, bar the away end, are silent.

3:23: Nottingham Forest player injured. Crowd finds their voice again. Next goal looks like it’ll be palace, but it’s close

4:52: Arrive back at King’s Cross. Train is both comfy and airconditioned. A first!
