I saw this tweet today on X, a platform that I have slowly been using more frequently.

Human’s live abnormally long lives by mammalian standards, but they still feel short. Were I to live as long as my father, for example, I would already be more than halfway through my life. If I was Afghani. Gazan, or Congolese, that might be closer to two thirds.
But that isn’t the moral of this story. Instead, it’s a recognition of the incredible power of exponential growth. The fact that so much has happened since 1912 to now, as compared to between 912AD and 1024AD just proves that there is very little that is as powerful as compounding returns.
