It’s my wife’s birthday today. Honestly, she’s the most incredible person in the world, and while I often tell her that, I feel this would be a good place to capture some of the reasons why I think that.
Ky is a very, very hard worker. She’s reliable at home and at work, and when she says she will do something, she does it. If you haven’t seen her crush tasks, it really is something to behold. Booking a 6 day trip away? Done in 20 minutes, seamlessly. Deliver an incredible 3 day trade show in NYC at the world’s biggest retail event? She does that as well. It’s impressive, it’s inspiring, and it’s incredible.
Ky is an excellent listener. There have been countless times when she will be chatting w a close friend of mine for many years, and later that evening she’ll casually mention “you never told me that X was adopted?!”. Well, X and I have been friends for 10 years and this was the first time I had ever heard this! Ky doesn’t get information out of people for fame, fortune, clout or advancement. People tell her things because they finally, finally have someone who listens without judgment (or payment). It’s a wonderful thing to have as a partner.
Finally, and I could go for much longer, Ky is an adventurer. The US is our fourth country living together, and it hasn’t always been easy. We knew next to no one when we got off the plane, and while the US isn’t Central Africa circa 1389, it is certainly different to what we are used to. Having someone alongside you who is willing to say “Yes!” to things, to dive head first, to do the unusual; it really gives life a lot of spice. Together we’re on an adventure, and that’s all I guess I really ever wanted
