Blog Post #41: WM Phoenix Open

Yesterday I attended the Waste Management Phoenix Open; certainly not the most prestigious golf tournament, but definitely the most rowdy. Many people call it the Happy Gilmore Open, and for obvious reasons. The event is less filled with demure older gentleman, but fully tanked frat boys dressed up as Vikings.

All the action centers around the 16th hole, which is the only hole on the PGA circuit where fans are allowed to whoop, holler, and create havoc as the players tee off or put. The crowd is boisterous but fair; good shots are rewarded with cheers, bad shots are brutally booed. It was good to see.

Ky’s company had organized a tent, so we were very well looked after. I write this on the bus on the way back for round two, which will conclude with a Super Bowl Watch Party. Go 49ers!
