Tonight, my wife and I decided to watch a movie. It’s not a common occurrence for us; unless we’re on a plane, we watch very few films together. With so little quantity on offer, we have to go for quality.
This evening, we ended up watching the classic film Inception. If you haven’t seen it, clear your calendar; this film is exceptional.
Without giving too much away, it’s a thriller by Christopher Nolan, easily the best director in my lifetime. The premise of the film revolves around the concept of the dream state, and what a world would look like if we could enter one another’s dreams.
It is clever in so many ways; for example, the characters can wake from their dreams if they have a kick, which is the sensation of free-falling which awakens anyone from even the deepest of slumbers. The writers also play with the concept of time; as we all know, a dream may feel like an hour, when it is only 5 or so minutes.
All in all, it was very clever, and very enjoyable.
