Bye Bye BofA

Today was a great day, as I was finally able to drop one of my biggest burdens, banking with Bank of America.

To give them credit (excuse the pun), they did allow me to open an account without an SSN, which Capital One didn’t. From there, it was all down hill.

Things I hated:

  • $5 monthly fee. For what? For having my own money on your server. Appalling
  • Debit card: They said they sent one. It never arrived. Great…
  • App: Borderline non-functional. Lots of features, terrible UX/UI. None of it made any sense
  • Onboarding: It took me about an hour at the branch to open an account. Again, why?

Since getting my SSN, I have been able to open an account with SoFi, which is SIGNIFICANTLY better. Sign up online, approved instantly, and free checking account. They’re also giving me a $300 sign on bonus as well, which is nothing to be sneezed at. Overall, I have been very impressed.

I don’t usually do this, but if you like the sound of a SoFi account, feel free to use my affiliate code, and get a free $25, HERE
