Christ is Risen!

It’s Easter Sunday over here in the Mountain West, and surprisingly, it isn’t a big deal.

In Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, Easter is big. For most people, it is by far the second biggest holiday on the calendar, after Christmas. A large part of that has to do with having both Good Friday and Easter Monday off, making it a rare four day long weekend. As it coincides with the last embers of summer, this means the perfect chance to get out of town. Capital cities are usually deserted.

But in the US, arguably the second most religious Western nation after Israel, the day comes and goes. Sure, plenty of people go to Church – the one nearby did FOUR different services before 12! – but for many folks, Easter Sunday= Chocolate + Brunch.

I’m not against it!

Today, we had the great fortune of visiting our good friends, and tucking into some mimosas and a multi-course feast. It really was terrific.
