Some cities are known for their architecture, their culture, or their nightlife. For Hobart, I think it’s the food.

Last night Ky and I went out to dine at ALOFT, and had a superbly made (and priced!) meal out. There were so many highlights throughout the meal, from a raw wallaby tartare on tapioca, to the Bruny Island Oyster, to the slow roasted lamb rib.

Ky and I love food, and while we are pretty handy in the kitchen, going to a nice place is an elevated experience. We rarely if ever eat out in Denver, finding it rarely worth the price, so when we get the chance to splurge in Australia we take it with mouths spread wide open.

Tasmania clearly has wonderful ingredients. The seafood, wine, and vegetables that this state produces is genuinely first rate, and couple with the Asian influences that so characterise “Modern Australian” food these days, we were absolutely stoked by it.

If you’re in Hobart, make sure to check it out!
