My sister and I watched the Argentina v Switzerland match today at McGregor Square. Spoiler alert: Switzerland were brave, but especially after going down to 10 men, it was always going to be advantage Argentina.
Sitting in the crowd, the support was rather lopsided. There were HUNDREDS of Argentinian supporters cheering on their team. Perhaps some of them were Messi fans, perhaps others were party to Inter Miami. But I got the impression I live among a lot of, and I quote, “far south Europeans”.
Argentina sits alone with China as a place I would like to visit, but haven’t yet. The passion the fans had for their team only escalated that desire.
