Father’s Day

It was Father’s Day. It was a brilliant day.

Ky and O really made me feel a million bucks today. It started with the gift that every parent crazes, a sleep in! After a few nights out on the road, being able to lie in bed for an extra hour, before O brought me my coffee, was heavenly.

We then went for brunch at a French creperie, where the standout dish for me was the duck rillettes. It’s one of those classics which you don’t often see outside of France, and is absolutely delicious.

The afternoon was spent doing a bit of self care; I went to the gym, and then spent an hour at the recovery studio. Not something I usually do, but the luxury to be able to take two hours to myself was such a treat.

Finally, the evening was Beef Bourgogne with mash potatoes. It’s a classic for a reason, and Ky had been making it since Saturday. The amount of love and care put into it was evident in every bite.

Being a father is a blessing, and in a real way, every day is Father’s Day. Having a family that loves you, and you love back, is the greatest gift of all.
