I have always been a little underwhelmed by Italian food. When I was 19, I spent a week here, and all I wanted was a big tasty pasta. I never got it.
On this trip, there has been a lot of very good food, including risotto, pizza, and Jim’s sensational chicken cacciatore. But I still hadn’t had my big tasty pasta.
That changed this evening. It was a gorgeous evening, so we went into town and sat at a tiny, homely, beautiful restaurant. It was quiet, so we let Occi play at our feet while we dined on Salami, Tiramisu, and finally, at last, a big tasty bowl of pasta.
It was everything a good neighbourhood restaurant should be: tasty, good value, comfortable, friendly.
It was one of the highlights of the trip, and we will be back, at least one day.
