It’s the spookiest time of the year, Halloween, and tonight we went all out. It was a blast!
It’s always fun, I think, to bundle costumes as a family. Last year we came as Ratatouille, with O being the Remy the rat, and Ky and I being Collette and Linguine. This year O wanted to be the Cookie Monster, so Sesame Street it was.

Our evening consisted of a quick trick to our friend’s place for a “potion swap” (everyone brings four different containers of soup, and leaves with four different ones). Meal prepping has never been easier!
As night fell, we joined up with some friends to go trick or treating. O and I have been practicing the art of knocking on the door and then extorting asking nicely for some lollies, but there were still a few wrinkles. The first house she ran inside to see their dog!

After two blocks of this, we retired back to our friend’s house for a regional delicacy: Cincinnati Chilli. Think your usual chilli, but with cinnamon and cocoa stirred in, served over spaghetti. Unusual, but delicious, particularly as the temperatures fell.
It was now around 7:30, and most parents with normal children were heading off home to sleep. O is not a big fan of sleeping, particularly when there is a party to be had, so up the road we went to ANOTHER party. The hosts had decorated their home head to toe with decorations, which O thought was amazing, but nothing was as exciting as their pile of leaves in their garden.

By 9:30, and despite massive protestations, it was time to go home. Costumes off, bottle of milk, and all three of us were tucked up and asleep within 20 minutes.
A great, great day.
