Juggernaut.

While walking around town today, we had a short visit to the Breckenridge Library. To the surprise of absolutely no one, towns with multiple 8 figure residences and almost no crime have plenty of cash to splash. So unsurprisingly, the Breckenridge Library was better resourced than 90% of schools.

A good library is more than a repository of books; it’s a centre for activities aimed at the just born and nearly gone. My personal favourite was seeing the recent poetry workshop for the Prep-2 kids, and there was one I just had to share.

Like many American writers, they cut to the chase. The author judiciously chooses their words so there is absolutely nothing left to cut; think Hemingway at his very best. I love how there is elements of an inconsistent narrator, à la F. Scott Fitzgerald; after all, do we really believe the protagonist when they announce that they’re an animal? Is it the author speaking through their muse, or is this the first example of a sentient creature, perhaps a bear with a particular distaste for squirrels.

Please have a read and let me know your reading, I’m going to be sitting with this one for a while.
