I don’t know knock the hustle, and I certainly try not to have a crack at a bloke having a crack. With that out of the way, I was surprised (although should I have been?) by Donald Trump entering the NFT game.
For my less tech savvy readers, and NFT is a non-fungible token, which theoretically allow users to “own” digital assets through blockchain technology. Because blockchains have immutable ledgers, it is possible to have a unique, one of a kind item in the digital world which otherwise was only reserved for assets in the physical realm.
If you’re not following, you’re not alone. The concept is complete dogshit, and from inception has been rife with cowboys, scammers, “gurus” and grifters. Now they have one more.
For $99, you can buy a digital Trump trading card, and you can be the sole owner of it. Obviously, there is nothing stopping me right-clicking on it and copying the image for my own use. See, I just did it below:
To be fair, there is more to it. If you buy 5, you get a unique PHYSICAL card which, contain part of the suit that he wore during his debate with Biden. If you buy 75, you get to have dinner with him in Florida, which, to be fair, is kinda cool. It’s not something I would spend $7.5k on, but if I was a bit richer, I would consider. Regardless of what you think of the 45th President, he is one of the world’s most famous, influential, and interesting people in the world.
At the end of the day, Trump is a businessman, doing business. He says so himself. I’d recommend checking out his video and making up your own mind.
