One of my sisters is due to be wed this November, and she sent out the Save the Date today.
It’s probably the only event in one’s life where you get two invitations, the pre-invite and the actual invite.
Thanks to the wonders of technology, the Save the Date is usually accompanied with a website bearing all the relevant information, and this one was no exception. With the price of digital real estate pretty much zero, you can answer all those pesky questions that could never fit on a paper invite.
What’s the dress code? When does it start? What will the weather be like? When does the bus leave? All vital questions that can be answered once, not multiple times as people call and ask the same thing again and again.
It’s a great system.
The actual invitation, delivered by post, might strike some as a mere formality, but it’s certainly something nice to hang on the fridge. I’m looking forward to it!
