I’m on the way to the airport after a very full, very productive week in San Fran. As soon as that plane takes off, I am going to pass out. Late nights, long days, and a new bed take their toll.
Beyond work, I have been able to do a lot. Staying with one of my dear friends, the cashew king, has been amazing. Beyond that, I had dinner with a few pals from the Incel Academy on Monday, an AWS demo day event on Tuesday, a terribly boozy night with some Oxford friends on Wednesday, and then a work dinner on Thursday. Come Friday, all I want to do is close my eyes and hit the hay.
There were lots of firsts on this trip. First Waymo. First experience with a Full Self Driving Tesla. First time getting dined and non-alcoholic wined by major tech companies. First time meeting my associate. And first time getting performance reviewed since joining Innovera. All of these went great.
Is SF a place I could live? Perhaps. I enjoy visiting and if you’re in the AI space, it’s hard to escape the energy. It’s architecturally beautiful, and I enjoy being by the water.
But it has been FREEZING, and there are a few too many crackpots around. If you have the cash, it offers a wonderful life, but that is true for many places.
Overall, it’s been a worthwhile trip, but I can’t wait to get back to the girls.
