There is a new nickname doing the rounds, and for once, it’s pointed AT Donald Trump; not generated by him.
I’m a fan of nicknames. I am an even bigger fan of ones that have real world effects. Marco Rubio looked like a political phenom in 2015, until Trump ended his career with “Little Marco”. The same thing happened to “Low Energy” Jeb Bush, “Crooked” Hillary Clinton, and “Sleepy” Joe Biden. Wikipedia even keeps track of them.
But now, the tables have turned. There have been plenty of nicknames thrown at 47: Cheetoh, Drumpf, Orange Mussolini etc. They all kinda suck, and none of them have caught on. They certainly haven’t affected him.
But Taco is different. If you haven’t heard, Taco stands for Trump Always Chickens Out, and it’s been flying around Wall Street in regard to the Tariffs, but increasingly other policies, like DOGE.
Apparently he HATES it. I’m not surprised. But the more he reacts, the more it will spread.
A nickname can ruin a political career, as a lot of people in the early 21st century can attest to.
