I write this on the tarmac of SFO, steeling ourselves for our first long haul flight with our three month old daughter.
Our first short haul flight was an 7/10, but averages can be misleading. The process at the airport was a solid 3/10, as we hauled 5 bags of luggage around. The flight itself was a 9.5/10, as she was a delight from the moment we took off. In fact, she was a minor celebrity!
However, it was the final 20 minutes that brought the average down. Way down.
Sadly, being able to equalize yourself on the descent isn’t genetically coded, and needs to be learned. When you’re barely past “holding head up”, it’s a tall order, and thus it was a loud, painful, and unpleasant experience for all.
Fingers crossed it’s better this time!
