I have inherited a canvas Barbour jacket from my late grandfather. It wasn’t formally in the will for me to have it, but it fits, and it’s in my house, so I guess it is mine for now.
It’s a lovely colour and very well made, but there is a major issue; it smells very much like canvas.
Personally, I quite like the scent; it reminds me of my childhood and pony club. But I can understand that the earthy notes can be a bit much.
The short term solution is to leave it outside until it cleans itself up. As for a long term solution, I have no idea. I’d hate to give it up, but we can’t have our whole wardrobe smelling like a barn.
