The South

Ky and I are at step two of our honeymoon, the South of France. You can see why it has a reputation; the two of us are absolutely smitten with the place.

Our journey hasn’t been without hiccups. Last night, what should have been a 3.5 hour train ride took almost 6, as we were delayed mid route due to engine failure. Tres Romantic! We eventually made it into Marseille, the Gotham City of Western Europe, very late.

Today has been significantly better. After a light breakfast of two of the Three Cs (Coffee, Croissant, Cigarette), we grabbed our car and rolled into Cassis, a beautiful beach town occasionally known as the “poor man’s St. Tropez”. It was a joy for us.

Arriving in Cassis

We went for a 90 minute walk, which took us to a tiny beach cove. Here we went for a dip, soaked in some rays, and admired the natural beauty of the place. I never knew the seas could reach such a deep blue.

This evening has been all about R&R, much needed after a week straight of 20k+ step days. We had a scrumptious BBQ, complete with Toulouse Sausages and New Potatoes, and now we’re cuddled up enjoying the Euros.

Expecting & Estatic

Overall, it’s been a terrific day.
