There is a famous subreddit called Tragedeigh, which focuses on “unique” names, especially those with “untraditional” spellings. If you have ever come across a Jaxon, a Raefarty (apparently Rafferty), or a Horcruxe in your life, this is your place to post.
Even if you don’t follow the page, you’ll have certainly experienced the cringe that some of these more “off-beat” elicit. Like many things, there has been a backlash, and kindergartens across the West are filled with Arthurs, Agathas, Arabellas and Archies, and that’s just the As.
There are still some holdouts though. The book I read today to O was dedicated by the author to her son, Jood. As in, Hey Jood.
A real tragedeigh.
