Some people feel uncomfortable giving bad reviews, especially for things like AirBnbs and Ubers. I understand the sentiment, but think that honesty is the best policy.
Ky and I are currently staying at a place, which given its location, price, and amenities, is a 3 star experience. The bed isn’t great. There isn’t any wifi. The neighbourhood is pretty average. The price isn’s low. The AC makes a gurgling sound. The elevator is broken. So is the hot water system.
The last two are out of the control of the host, but it still leads to an unsavoury experience. Regardless, the reviews for this place are high, with an average of 4.8 out of 5. Either some people have very low standards, or they have decided to just do the no fuss approach of just clicking 5.
When we do that, we rob potential customers of important information, and take away opportunities for hosts to improve their offering. Don’t be sucked in, give those 3 star locations the rating they deserve!
