Last night was the wedding of my dear old friend, George, and his beautiful bride, Ellinor.
I love weddings, but this one was something else. The couple have many things in common, but one of the more interesting things is how they both have a Swedish mother. That connection to the Nordic nation continues; today, they live together in Stockholm.
Cross-cultural weddings are great fun. While at its core, a classical Australian event, there were plenty of nods to the Far North. We sang traditional (and modern, think ABBA!) songs, enjoyed smoked fish and roasted lamb, and overall had an absolute blast.
It included a few firsts for me: my first church wedding, my first wedding where the guests were scattered when seated (as compared to sitting next to their partner), and the first wedding where the meal was a long lunch.
All of these changes were actually great, and very much inline with what the couple.
George, Ellinor, were are so thrilled for you!
