Yesterday, Ky and I welcomed our first child to the world, Octavia Bari Jones Wetherall. It’s a bit of a mouthful, so we just call her Occi (pronounced Oc-ki) for now. Perhaps she’ll be a Tavie, Ava, O, or Tavs in future. Who knows? A lot of my high school friends call me Menez, and a bunch of my Queensland pals still call me Meaty. Nicknames are great and unpredictable. Maybe I’ll write about them in the future.
You probably want to know how it all went down. Fair enough, it’s quite a story. To do it justice, I think I’ll split it into three parts, the labour, the delivery, and postpartum, starting tomorrow.
Apart from those posts, I’ll try my best to try and avoid writing about her. Mostly to keep it interesting to my readers, and also to keep a part of world seperate from the all consuming nature of fatherhood.
As for now, so far so good. Baby and mum are doing just fine.
There is so much to look forward to.
