One of the activities the British are renowned for is queuing in lines. Despite being a citizen of the kingdom, I can’t say I share the joy.
Sadly, in some instances there is no escaping it.
This morning, Newcastle United released their season ticket waitlist. No surprises here, but I’m at the back; position 38424 to be exact. 50k people are on the list, and this year the club was “thrilled” to announce that 250 people were offered memberships.
This might take a while.
At that rate, I’ll be dead and buried by the time my number is called in 2179. At a more realistic rate, I’m looking at around 30 years on the list.
It’s a long time, but perhaps a blessing. There is zero chance I could justify a season ticket now. But in 30 years, hopefully supersonic travel “might” make it feasible.
Or maybe it won’t? Either way, I have three decades to think about it.
