I finally tried Sora, ChatGPTs AI video generator.

It’s ok. Despite being on the premium plan, I burnt through all my credits in less than 10 minutes, and what I created weren’t great by any means. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros: I mean, despite all my complains, this thing is still incredible. In under a minute I can imagine an idea, type it into the prompt, and have a short video to download. It’s pretty close to magic, even if my expectations were not met.

Cons: Creating video is incredibly complex. Making an image is difficult. Making a 5 second video at 30FPS means you need to make 150. While I understand that from a technical point of view, I still feel like it could be better.

There are also some issues with text on screen, with multiple spelling errors, which I never really understood.

Final thoughts: It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish. Below is the progress of how AI art improved within 12 months, and I think Video will be something similar.
